Your download came with a documentation.pdf. If you can not read it and or understand it you should seek the documentation online here
http://www.oscommerce.info/and here.
http://www.oscommerce.info/docs/english/ta...f_contents.htmland here
http://www.interspire.com/content/articles...ile-PermissionsYou have server issues and not oscommerce issues and those permission issues will not go away by switching to different software.

Well at least I'm getting a response, however misguided.
Ok, so you are telling me I am having server issues. What issues? Give me some specifics. There is no message other than one that says I have a permissions issue.
I did read the documentation that was included with the download. There is very little in terms of troubleshooting installation problems in the documentation.
On a post above I posted the directory permissions on the file, and asked what else could be the problem. Nobody responded. And you are only directing me to the documentation. That's not particularly helpful.
If you have some valuable advice, other than RTFM, I would appreciate it.
I came to this forum with a problem, and I assumed, as this is an OPEN SOURCE program that the spirit of open source was prevalent here. Instead, I find that I am told to read the book, and don't let the door hit you in the ass. What the hell kind of reception for a new user of your software is that?
I had installation issues, and was asking for help. A lot of other users are doing the same thing, and appear to be receiving a more receptive response. Perhaps you guys don't like it pointed out to you when you aren't really being helpful?
Or maybe you really don't care who actually uses this program since it's open source, and you aren't getting paid to support it?
This is more akin to an experience with Microsoft technical support... the only difference is they would make me pay for the experience of being treated like an asshole instead of getting it for free.
Thanks for all the help guys.
