I already have had 5 languages installed by a web designer some months agoo. They have now gone out of business and I am not confident to play with.php. However I need to add Polish (firstly) to my site and if that is successful to include several more. Has anybody got any user freindly instructions and / tutorials that could help me add these languages. I am moderately confident as I have built my own site but not knowing .php frightens me to touch anything!!

Thanks anyway. Bill P (UK).

Installing a contribution consistes of 6 steps, only one is optional.

Back up the code and database

Download the contribution

Read the installation instructions

Follow them

Test

Have a pint

You will need to know how to use an ftp client to copy files from your site to your PC. (not a good idea to edit your live files)

How to open and edit files

How to use an ftp client to copy your updated files back up to your site.

You might also need to know how to run sql using phpmyadmin if there are any changes/new entries required in your db.

If in doubt google

Installing a language pack usually consists of two steps:

1 - Upload the included files to the shop. They shouldn't overwrite anything since the language is new.
2 - goto admin->Languages and add an entry for the new language.

If you have installed contributions then it involves a bit more. That is because the languages files have probably been altered and you will have to compare the files and copy the changes made to the english directory to those of the new language.
