Whats the best way to have OS display my image thumbnails correctly, instead of using a redefined size I'd like it to use whatever it is I add...its distorting some of the images I upload.
Or is it better for me to size within OS requirements?

In administartion tool-->Configuration--> images
set everything just like this:
Small Image Width --------> 100
Small Image Height--------> leave blank
Subcategory Image Width --------> 100
Subcategory Image Height--------> leave blank
Calculate Image Size-------> true
100 is just what I use, you can set that as wide as you want.
