I have apache, php, mysql installed on my home PC on my home server "localhost".

and have installed oscommerce and have it running without any problems.

i have installed the protx direct contribution and enabled it, and the card options appear on the checkout page.

i put in the test card details into the form and i can get to the checkout confirmation page where it says you can submit your order.

However, when i click submit, nothing happens and it does not process and continue to protx's test server.
the page just gives a 404 error.

I do not have a protx account,
and in the Oscommerce admin section, for vendor name, i have put in "testvendor" and selected "Server IP Test" for transaction mode.

I am confused as to what is required to test on the protx server.

Do i have to register with Protx first and get a user name / id from them??
and do i require open SSL to simulate a SSL certificate?

I'm unsure, so if anybody can help.
I want to be able to test the payment process from my home server before putting it online.

please help
thanks

You must have:

a) have SSL enabled

b) an account with them

c) registered your server's IP with them.

All takes time, but at least when you've done it, it works!

as above but if you're getting a 404 error then something's not installed properly (have you copied all the files including /protx_process.php ?)

You do not need a full account - if you start the application process (before having a merchant number) they will sort out a simulator account.
